Consultation

The formal consultation process took place between 16 May 2011 and 26 June 2011.

• Approx. 4000 consultation leaflets and brochures
were distributed to year 3 parents of local feeder
primary schools, other local schools, local
community groups, parish councils and other
faith groups, local Councillors, local MPs, resident
associations, youth groups, voluntary
organisations, local police and the local libraries.

• There were three means of submitting feedback
a. via tear-off postal slip in Consultation Brochures and Leaflets
b. via the Academy’s website
c. via voicing of opinions at public events (listed below)

• All the information contained within the consultation document was made available on this website

• The Funding Agreement being entered into between the Kensington Aldridge Academy Trust and the
Department for Education is available here (1.4mb pdf).

• A ‘Frequently asked questions’ document was posted on the Academy’s website. Click here (750kb pdf) for a copy.

• A Public Meeting, to find out more about the Academy proposal, was held at the St Clements Centre on Sirdar
Road on 16 May 2011. Approx. 150 people attended. Click here (23kb pdf) for notes from the meeting.

• A ‘drop-in session’ was held on 21 June 2011 at the Lighthouse West London on Lancaster Road and was attended
by approx. 50 people.

• 77.3% of postal and email respondents were in favour of the proposed Academy.

• 18.2% of postal and email respondents were opposed to the proposed Academy.

• 4.5% of postal and email respondents were undecided.

The Academy project team met with local resident and community groups as well as local primary schools and parents of Year 3 and below, to share with them the vision for the Academy, its admissions policy and its educational plans, and though the formal consultation period is now over the team will continue to do so.
